Genetics

A place to discuss the genetics of meeroos.

I just had a rather incredible 24 hours. Not one but two Azures popped for me, a compatible breeding pair.

The first was out of 2 emperors I bred out last week. His mother was the result of a koi grandchild x koi great grandchild.

The second was out of a pair of Koi grandchildren.

Does the generation stat show a reliable indication of a roo's generation? I was looking at my best coat so far and its a gen 5, so I spent a while and mapped out it's entire family tree. At its furthest, its 9 generations from Levio and Dawnara. 37 different gen 2 roos went in to making my gen 5 cinder.

It is very frustrating to me this meeroo mysteries. I am a ok breeder. I know alittle about pairing. I have been breeding for a bit.I was thinking on some things. Does regard really play a role in this situation. I have over 500k regard and alot of roos. My fellowship has alot of fellowship points and my roos are petted and have a good regard amount...........I CAN NOT GET ANYTHING OUT OF THE NORMAL. It is frustrating to me when I hear one thing about regard but meeroo parents with less regard can get rare coats and new coats. This seems to be to me one sided!

Meeroo Population

Current estimated Breeding Population: 169208
as of 2011-08-19 22:00:01

See graphic for population trend analysis.

I promised Charm I'd not post, but I am still monitoring Meeroo population dynamics trends, and will continue to do so until Charm drops out completely. I post this, but will not join in any discussion.

I have three lazy meeroos of different ages. I used to just breed my starter ones and they all synched, but i just opened some nests and switched things around in the last week.

So I have three lazy meeroos, one is at 'season fall', one at '2 days wait' and one 'too soon'. Will they eventually synch up again?

Something interesting

We have all started out with the standard roo coats, but yet the tome lists them in a different order. Has anyone tried to breed them according to the tome layout? If so, will you post results here please?

Runic lightbulb moment

I didn't get a chance to read all of the old forum threads before they got shut down, so this might have been said before, but I was looking through my notes on what we know about the runes and searching for the post where Catherine tells the beta players about the gift.

I'M A BELIEVER!

Cue Monkee music!!!

Born 11:13am, Friday, August 19 a Painted Nile baby boy, weighing in at one prim. Proud parents...one very old very stubborn male mischievous starter koi and one ursine mischievious koi offspring (the other one)!

Down to the wire... ageing out, with 46 lil fawn, wine and one red offspring, grand offspring, great grand offspring running havoc through the prims and a half a day away from season change and into the oblivion.

I am curious to find out how long people keep their Meeroos before releasing them to the wild -

Currently my goal is to let them age out and release them after their last breeding cycle, but this makes for slow progress. I did get impatient and release a few (6) around the forty day mark, but I have not coaxed any new nests yet to replace those numbers.

What is your process, do you let them age out naturally or do you cull after a certain number of nests? Do you rank based on performance?
