A place to discuss the genetics of meeroos.

Another Nile Specie discovered, it's called the Dune Coat, its a Nile Meeroo, and apparently has came from the same person who got the Terracotta coat from what I heard.

Here is a link to the Meeroo.

I wonder why most of these awesome Roo's are so low in gen, and they are so exotic and sought after at the moment.

Clover meeroos

I have been told that Clover meeroos do not EVER pass the clover coat. Is this true?

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

So it was posted in the Eye Genetics thread on the general forum(which cannot be retrieved) that if pairing 2 Meeroos with the same eye color and clear eyes would produce the same color/clear offspring every time.

now check this out:

I got this nest today from this pair:

now going back further - the grandparents of the nest(all 4 of them) have also got the Ursine coat and flare/clear eyes.

This lil girl's grandmother was a Canine head, but her mother was not.
Her grandfather was also a Canine head, father was not, but was a SUE.

Grandmother and grandfather are full siblings.

And here is the pair that started it all:

I finally got a Koi from Koi os and thought I'd share the process especially for Scooby. This has been the hardest slog from o/s for me (except Long Mane that I'm still working on and I think that's going to fail as the Mane ancestor was a starter and has never passed the trait that I can see looking thru its nests.)

I bought 2 male Koi o/s. Both had only one parent Koi.I couldn't find a female Koi o/s anywhere at a decent price.
I paired both of these with SUE female, 1 fawn, 1 wine. Why SUE? one male had SUE its his history and I had no shortage of SUE females.

It all started with one koi that was born of a winecoat and ursine. I bred her with everything I had that was compatible but got no more kois.

I bred her plain offspring and got plain grand kids. I bred the plain grandkids back to the original koi and started getting more kois.

But today they really surprised me. I have several stumps of otherwise plain offspring paired up and was very surprised to get 3 emperors. All from pairs of plain koi grandkids.

Never underestimate the grand kids!

Got an Azure!

With the meeroos I am convinced that the only way to get new traits out is to mix those if wich its known they have exotics in their families. And jay! I am at work, cant coax the nest, but saw my 2 koi/nile OS gave me a koi Azure!
http://www.worldofmeeroos.com/meeroos/meeroo/1205987

It has Koi, Painted Nile and Emperor in the background.

(I wrote this also in the general forum and then I saw that they are gonna close down most forums..Guess I really missed a lot here)

I would like to get everyones thoughts on the "Diurnal" spot on the eyes, why is it there if there isnt something new to discover here?

Could it be the spot where "vivid" will go? The hint that Catherine threw out in one of her posts?
