Genetics

A place to discuss the genetics of meeroos.

I'm a breeder who prefers to get multiple traits on a higher coat. I'm sure many of you know that it's a pain staking process at times when you do your research all the way back to Gen 1 and then when the nest shows up on your new experiment you wind up with less than you'd hoped for.

I adore this game, so not being the type of woman who gives up easily, I've been plugging away over the last few months and I wanted to share my latest accomplishment.

What are my chances?

Let me preface this by saying I'm VERY happy for all the people who are getting the new coats/species. Truly, my congrats guys. :) But I'm wondering, do I have the same chance as others who have been breeding longer? I'm a very small breeder, and not really even a breeder at that. I have 20 meeroos mostly because I just like them, and sell a few nests here and there to help pay for food. I don't have a lot of really rare roos, and I've only been at this like 2 months. So do you think I have the same chances at the new coats as everyone, or am I at a disadvantage?

updated genetics

OK this is my question are ALL nests capable of producing these new Roo's or only the ones recently born? I have heaps of old nests stashed away so do they get the genetics update too?????

New Species

In case anyone didn't see in the other thread, the Burning Sun Meeroo, Goldfoot Coat was discovered today. I snapped a picture when the owner coaxed it.

Alright. Let's ask for some help on that one.
Please first excuse my noobism on technical terms/words you may have the habit to use.

Since about three months, I've been breeding around a whole family of long manes with short tail/feline/clear eyes/teacup genes, starting from ONE meeroo.

I have now about 5 couples coming from backbreeding this meeroo.

After months of testing the upcoating theory behind snowpaw and lochs and eyes being the key to upcoating i finally did it.. it has produce an upcoat 2 weeks in a row this was the first upcoat

Looking for Advice

I never got anywhere with my original meeroos, so I ended up buying offspring about two months ago. That quickly got me to Snowpaws, but that's mostly where I have remained stuck for now.

Obviously, I don't quite have the hang of this. ;) Given the stock I've got, it seems most reasonable to try and progress beyond Snowpaw and Loch to reach the new Pine and Gael species, but I am doing it rather blindly right now.

Should I mix in other species? Should I just get "fresh" Snowpaw and Loch genes so that mine aren't too inbred?
