A place to discuss the genetics of meeroos.

Genetic Drift

Over the past few days I've been studying genetic concepts and theories. I won't claim to have any deep understanding of genetics because it's not my field of study. Like most, I'm going to have adjusted what I read to fit my field; so I'll certainly make some mistakes in terminology.

As I study the various hints and clues given by the game designers, I see three main themes:

1) Starters are not required.
2) Random mutation is common and explained as throw-backs.
3) Genetic drift is central to the genetics system.

Personalities

Hi there i am not sure if this would be classed as genetics?
It is more so to do with the meeroos personalities
i was wondering if anyone has noticed any difference in the personalities
i have a few meeroos in all personalities
but to me they all act the same and do the same Movement
i just want to state that i am not dissing on the meeroo
i love them so darn much
i was just wondering if i have just been missing them
or are they all the same except the words
I dont know why but i thought they would do things to add a little more realism to them

Patterns?

I know people generally are switching things up a bit, but I've a few pair that I've set to monogomous relationships. I'm trying to figure out the patterns in nests which ostensibly could lead me to determining when to switch out pairs or give up on a roo. I watch and sort my spreadsheet quite a bit and this is the history on my two pairings.

Mother was a winecoat starter (normal stats for head, hair, ears, tails if not stated) Wine,Monsoon/Diurnal/Dusty,f,shy,1.75. (coat, eye, sex, personality, size) Dad was a starter Wine,Irish/Diurnal/Dusty,m,shy,1.75

They gave me these nests, in order

Koi breeding

I was just wondering if anyone has bred a koi with another coat, such as an autumn or sierra? And if you have...what was the end result with nests?

Taxonomy upgrade extras:

ok so we all know the chance of getting something other than totally normal from starters chests is now 0, but what about the roos you do get from the chest's is their chance a producing something out of the ordinary 0 also. Just curious, I would hope they are able to produce one of the newer coats but many are saying no they are not capable.please clarify

Retirement bonus...

I had this idea while babbling mindlessly in another thread, What if you could see your meeroos hidden traits after they retire? It'd be too late to use the information directly, but it might give you a hint how to handle their offspring?

Sure, there's no guarantee any of their offspring inherited any of their hidden traits, but this would at least give us an idea how to proceed from there! And it'd be such a sweet gift from them for two months of care!

I have a couple of roos that have them... But can't find that many folks who have them as well.

Thanks

The new spiecies ?

Okay I have a question about the new spiecies that should be coming out.. the vine eaters and such.

Now will they appear out of breading ?
can you get a vine eater from a berry eater ?
or will they be coming out of starter packs?

I have not seen any of these yet and would love to.

If you have seen one please let me know. I have to many questions and not quite finding the answers.

Thanks

Samanthia

An excerpt from Catherine's Blog dated - O6/13/11 -
"The same thing happens in real life. Two dark haired, brown eyed parents can suddenly find their new born infant has red hair and blue eyes, reaching back deep into the DNA to the Mother's great, great, great Irish Grandmother! It's highly uncommon, but it does happen! "

If you look at both the Highland side and Amber side, they both trace back to Cronus and Persephone.

Cronus traces back to Eric and Polly, and Persephone traces back to Alcide and Iona. All 4 were pre-orders.

The grandfather on the father's side, Ambrose Amber, http://www.worldofmeeroos.com/index.php?q=meeroos/meeroo/428041 traces back through Copper Amber to Alcide and Sookie, also Pre-orders. Copper was my first Amber.

Phoebe was my first Highland.
