Genetics

A place to discuss the genetics of meeroos.

I wonder is there any point in my breeding and doing genetics research and calculations to get rare and new traits in Meeroos.

The reason is I am STILL hearing from many other breeders they have dumped all their Meeroos as they maintain rare/new traits are more common and easier to get in starter packs as opposed to getting them from breeding. I find this virtually impossible to believe but they are adamant it is the case.

About the ears...

I wonder if I'm doing anything wrong so I thought I'd get some input. My roos give me reds, autums, sierras and clear eyes. They refuse to give me any other ears, tails, heads whatever than normal. I bought a short eared female around 3 (or 4?) weeks ago, she had 6 babies with 4 different partner, none of then short ears, neither the offspring of these babies. I got another short eared girl around 2 weeks ago, two babies with two different partners, no short ears.

So, two questions started popping up.

I have been breeding down through the generations based on some thoughts I had from a post made by Catherine. I am into my 6th generations now and I am just curious if anyone has had any success with random mutations from this type of breeding?... Or for that matter if anyone else is actually breeding based on generations? You can post or IM me in world. I just would like to talk to someone who has had some success or has not with some sort of explanation.

Pit Breeding 101

Why is it, people are announcing breeding skills in rl, marking charts, hypothesize on genetics, creating models, in breeding and line breeding?

Do I say its wrong to do all of this? no.
I did post on the thread asking about my pit breeding, here it is:

but the one thing i do is "limit gens to gens"!!!

this is important so you do not have any inbred buck toothed wild haired roos come a hauntin ya for yor vittles.

i "flip" mine every hour or so..

by that what im doing is re rezzing the roos "that are ready for babies"! and using everything!!! set to fellowship.
